John Sommer has a lifetime of experience working as part of the WTA Group family. It has provided him with the practical knowledge and expertise to deliver the highest quality transport and logistics solution for your business.

As a fourth-generation member of the WTA family business, John has been interested in international freight management since his teenage years. This interest has naturally evolved into a career focused on providing WTA customers the highest level of service for truly customised logistics solutions.

John has worked both in the UK and abroad, having spent five years overseas in the US setting up and developing the US office. This experience has left him with unparalleled knowledge in US customs brokerage and a comprehensive understanding of the complex clearances involved in food transport.

You can be confident that, when you work with John, you’ll be working with someone who is dedicated to finding the best solution to your unique logistical challenges.In 2013, John became WTA Group Director and Head of US Development. This position has allowed him to develop strong relationships and broaden his knowledge of US regulations to ensure that your needs are addressed in a seamless manner. WTA Group is dedicated to staying at the forefront of global logistics, and John is working as part of WTA’s strong management team to drive the company forward.

To meet the future trends and demands of the global industry. Today, he serves as Chairman of WTA UK and WTA USA, helping lead the company in becoming the global leader in bespoke logistics solutions.

Outside of the office, John is a loving and proud father to three children. His hobbies include fly fishing, playing golf and spending time outdoors when the English weather allows.

Steve Petrie serves as the Managing Director of WTA Energy Ltd in the UK, overseeing the delivery of innovative and efficient freight forwarding solutions tailored to the energy sector. With over 25 years of experience in the oil and energy industry, including 20 years specializing in energy logistics and freight forwarding, Steve brings unparalleled expertise and strategic insight to his leadership role.

Having cut his teeth in the complex field of oil and gas logistics to and from West Africa, Steve has shipped, stored, and handled equipment and supplies for the most prominent energy service companies—ensuring they are always in safe hands. His career spans extensive experience with out-of-gauge and project freight movements, chemical logistics, and customs consultancy, giving him a breadth of knowledge that few in the industry can match.

Steve’s wealth of expertise ensures that WTA Energy Ltd in the UK is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of global energy supply chains. His commitment to sustainability and operational excellence drives the company’s approach to addressing the unique challenges of energy sector transportation.

Throughout his career, Steve has been passionate about building enduring client relationships and fostering high-performing teams. His leadership reflects a dedication to excellence and a forward-looking vision for the energy logistics industry.

Kamar Ahmad brings over a decade of expertise in the energy and freight forwarding industries to his role as Regional Director for Asia. In this capacity, he oversees strategic operations across the region, ensuring seamless and efficient global logistics solutions tailored to the unique needs of the energy sector.

Prior to this, Kamar served as General Manager of an energy-focused freight forwarding company for three years, where he successfully led its growth and operational excellence. His career foundation was built during an eight-year tenure with one of the industry’s leading oil and gas forwarders, collaborating with Asia’s top energy companies to manage complex global supply chains.

With his tenacity, meticulous attention to detail, and deep industry knowledge, Kamar continues to drive innovation and deliver exceptional results in the rapidly evolving energy market.
